People will change their auto insurance if another company provides a better deal. If your company is not competitive (has higher rates), then they likely won’t change. Most auto insurers now seem to be requiring that homeowners carry both their home and auto with their (the auto insurers) company. They’ve long offered this w/ a slight discount.
You could do the old fashioned thing and put fliers on doors (but not in neighborhoods that have an active homeowners association).

p.s.: I have no idea how/why this other person copied my response to you.
I like the flier idea because most people want time to think about it and not be pressured. Also, I would suggest that you begin a thank you program for referrals… when a current client sends you some business, send them a thank you note and maybe something as small as $5 Starbucks gift card to show your appreciation. Best advertising is still word of mouth.
Fliers and mailers are all well and good, but that just makes you one more piece of junk mail. You need personal contact. Potential clients need to SEE you & know that you’re a real person.
Knock on doors then hand people your fliers and business cards. Let people know that you’re more than a salesman that you’re their agent for life that YOU’RE the person they’ll be talking to from here on out.
You need to become known. Make friends with the used car lots and dealerships. Become known in the community.
You don’t want clients who purchase on price alone anyway. they don’t stay and they’re high maintenance.
I also recommend that you sell more than auto. You need at least home and auto for packages. The more you offer both in policies and service the more loyal your clients are likely to be (not always) and the less likely they’ll be to shop.
Go knock on doors and pass out cards. If you spend ten hours every weekend doing that, you’ll probably be writing five policies a week.
