You don’t mention make, model, or year. It doesn’t make much difference, I suppose. Cars before 1970 or so could be converted with enough effort, but once electronic control systems were added it became very much harder. If your car was sold in America since January 1996, you can expect to replace most of the wiring and several computers (including security computers, if it has them), and to take a big loss in value.
In all but the oldest cars you are much better off to sell the auto car and buy a manual car. Or you can keep the auto and just buy a manual for the amount you would spend to try to do the conversion.
Unless you are really in love with that car its not worth it. I have converted old mustangs (65-68) from auto to manual using the assembly from another mustang but even then it costs the customer around $2000 in labor. For the most part its so expensive you can buy another car that is already manual and save yourself time and money.
it can be if you are familiar with how it all works, but it is not for the novice tech, some of us seasoned techs would not want to do it on some of the newer cars.
