You can even if it’s not in your name. It’s done everyday.
You can insure anything you want, but its up to the insurance company whether they’ll cover a car registered in another persons name.
they may not put it in your name. My car is in my dads name (my credit sux) and i dont live with my dad. They did insure my car in his name, but i just pay the bill every month. ask your insurance agent, they should be able to help ya out better
Have you dad add you to his policy on the car. Have him transfer the car in your name at your local dmv then you can get the car insured in your name.
Yes, you can. I am the register owner of the car my grand daughter drives and she has auto insurance in her name and her address.
It depends on state insurance laws as to whether you can do that. Here in NC, the car has to be insured the same way it is titled. So here, the insurance would be in your dad’s name. However, you can have your name put up there as additional insured, and you can arrange for the bill to go to you instead of to him.
Or as someone stated earlier, your dad could insure the vehicle on his policy and have you listed as a driver and let you pay him for your part of the insurance.
Check with an insurance agent in your state to see what is best for you.
You should transfer your car into your name, if for no other reason than to release him from any liability if you should have a terrible accident. You should have the title and the insurance coverage. Are you sure you don’t need at least liability insurance?
