My crony as well as you were pushing in a let automobile in California. you was a motorist as well as it was rented underneath my name as well as upon my insurance. Both of us have extensive insurance. We strike something as well as a automobile was unusable. We were foolish as well as claimed which my crony was pushing since he had his word with him during a time. Will a automobile be lonesome by my word even yet you pronounced he was driving?

Hi
If you try changing details you may find yourselves open to prosecution for giving false details, Attempting to perverse the course of Justice and waisting police time In U.K If the car was rented in your name, you are covered by the hire companies insurance. Your friend would not, unless they were listed at the time of hire as a second driver. (this is to stop people under minimum hire car rental age driving there cars as age makes a difference to insurance cost. Our private car insurance covers us for other cars but stipulates that not for hire cars. I do not know If this is the same where you are.

If it was rented under your name, and your friend was not on the contract as an additional driver, he is not covered for driving the car. No, the rental company will go by the information you told the police, and you will pay for any damages out of pocket for allowing someone to drive who was not authorized to do so.
If you attempt to change your story after the fact, you may get in more trouble for that.
Unless your friend was named as an additional driver on the hire agreement, the answer is no the car will not be covered on your insurance. Bad luck.
Unless your friend was an authorized additional driver (signed on to your contract) then you would have violated the terms of your rental agreement. This would normally violate the terms of your coverage. You need to check with your insurance company to check into the details of your coverage, specifically for a rental car and as it would apply to another “driver” of that car.. assuming you are sticking by your story to the car rental company.

If this happened at my company, the following is what would take place. We would give you a disapproving look for letting your friend drive, and we would take both you and your friend’s insurance information. Most likely, if your friend is the one who was said to be driving; it would go under his insurance, even if he was not listed on the rental contract. Because you were the primary driver, you technically CAN give permission for someone else to drive it that isn’t listed, even though that’s not generally a good idea. I have filed claims like this before at my rental office and even if there was an unauthorized driver who caused the accident, most likely it would go thru that unauthorized driver’s insurance. There was one instance that an unauthorized driver totaled one of my cars (he didn’t have insurance), and the primary renter’s insurance had to legally pay for all damages because their insured had entrusted the other driver w/ the keys. It’s complicated, but honestly, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. This happens all the time.
