Why have been automobile let prices so tall in Detroit?

Last year, we was means to lease a automobile for half a price which a let costs this year – even weekly rates have about doubled as well as every day rates have been outrageous. Why have a costs of automobile let during DTW left up so much?

Michigan has no-fault insurance, which means there is no incentive for others to drive carefully. I somebody hits you, it’s YOUR insurance (or the car rental company’s) that pays for the damages. Since nobody’s at fault, it’s everyone’s insurance that goes up as a result.

Funny how No-Fault was supposed to lower the insurance rates because there wouldn’t be any costly lawsuits to determine who was at fault. Car insurance in Michigan costs 50% – 100% more than in many other states.

People in Michigan are cattle to the companies, there. When the companies get tired of the people, they companies move, or lay off people like cattle to slaughter. Use ‘em, abuse ‘em, and lose ‘em. The unions were nothing more than a scam to line their own pockets.

The insurance companies in Michigan are a racket, too. If you haven’t had insurance in Michigan, you have to go into a ‘high-risk’ pool which costs you twice as much. State Farm, for example, says sorry about that, but it’s state law. Come to find out, it was State Farm that PUSHED for that law, and it’s State Farm that administers that high-risk pool. So naturally they get to collect more money.

They are probably finding that more people are renting cars and can move the price up because of that. There is no alternative if you need a car to drive around freely.

Car rentals are up EVERYWHERE these days because less people are traveling. The economy is worse off this year than last.

The cost of car rental seems to have gone up for most companies in most cities. Because many car rental companies no longer have good buy-back programs with car manufacturers they are limiting their fleet sizes and lower supply means higher demand and higher prices.

Check some car rental websites for specials and try to find yourself a discount code or coupon. See if renting off airport may be cheaper (assuming you can find transportation to an off airport location).

Detroit car rental is cheaper than most city’s that are close in size. It’s all supply and demand.
